Researching and reporting on national trends in community investment
US SIF, the Foundation for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, commissioned me to update its knowledge base and analysis of community investment in 2011. US SIF is strongly engaged in encouraging and expanding community investment in order to assist poor and under-served people. I produced a report available here.
I interviewed a broad range of US SIF’s national membership – investors, financial advisors, broker-dealers, banks and money management companies. In addition I talked to leading industry researchers and various national advocates.
The report catalogs community investment products (organized by asset classification). It discusses the approach that advisors use with clients to incent community investing, and it summarizes some “wish lists” for products or platforms that would increase community investing.
