Introducing a for-profit housing developer to the impact investor market
A nationally prominent for-profit developer of affordable housing asked me to evaluate its real estate projects as an impact investment, and to test the appetite for high-dollar equity participation among impact investors.
The company’s main focus is to acquire existing affordable housing properties that were first developed using the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). I evaluated the LIHTC acquisitions and found a strong combination of financial and community impact returns. I worked extensively with the developers to frame their impact investment proposition. Finally, we leveraged my and the company’s personal networks to present the investment outline to a deep sample of investors and financial advisors.
